Savanna Peake

Education Advisor

Savanna is a committed advocate, leader and community organiser with extensive experience across all levels of government. She possesses a deep commitment to social justice and progressive leadership as a means to achieve meaningful and lasting change.

A product of the public education system and a graduate of the University of New South Wales, Savanna commenced her career as an English and History teacher in public high schools. In this role, she observed firsthand the transformative impact of quality education and has consistently advocated for fair wages and improved conditions for educators, working closely with both teachers and students to promote equitable learning environments.

In 2025, Savanna stood as the Australian Labor Party’s federal candidate for the electorate of Wentworth, reflecting her dedication to representing progressive values and driving positive change at the national level. Savanna has led a number of high profile political campaigns, but one of her proudest was leading the Sydney for Yes Referendum Campaign in 2023 as the lead organiser.

Drawing on her lived experience with endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), Savanna has been a vocal advocate for enhanced healthcare services, particularly increased investment in women’s health across New South Wales. She has led multiple campaigns to elevate these critical issues within the public and political discourse.

As a proud lesbian woman and as Co-Convenor of Rainbow Labor NSW, Savanna has played a leading role in advancing LGBTIQA+ rights, including organising Sydney Mardi Gras events, leading equality campaigns, and fostering constructive engagement with faith communities and political leaders. She was instrumental in the passage of the NSW Equality Bill in 2024 and continues to fight for the LGBTIQA+ community to achieve better outcomes and equality for all.

Savanna is known for her collaborative approach, working effectively with local, state, and federal leaders to secure tangible outcomes for Sydney’s diverse communities. She currently serves as a Board Director of the Pride Business Association and is a Senior Policy Advisor to the Deputy Lord Mayor of Sydney, Zann Maxwell.
