Performances
Qtopia Sydney’s theatres - The Loading Dock and The Substation - are spaces where stories of every shape, scale and voice are welcomed and celebrated. From bold new works to intimate cabarets, readings and live performance, our stages champion Queer and Ally storytelling in all its diversity, creating room for artists and audiences to connect, reflect and feel seen. Here, every story matters - and every voice has a place.
What’s On Next
The Loading Dock Theatre
The Loading Dock is Qtopia Sydney’s 55-seat black box theatre, located within our main building at 301 Forbes Street, Darlinghurst. The space is designed to support bold new work, close-up storytelling and inventive performance. Its adaptability allows creators to shape the room around their story, making it an ideal home for theatre, cabaret, readings and live performance that invite audiences right into the heart of the work. This is the home of our Mainstage season.
The Substation
The Substation is our underground performance space, seating 40–50 people in the heart of Taylor Square. Raw, atmospheric and intimate, The Substation offers a powerful setting for experimental work and boundary-pushing storytelling. Tucked beneath one of Sydney’s most iconic Queer crossroads, it’s a space that thrives on energy, immediacy and connection.
